Calling all explorers! Start the week by building a fort, which will serve as your home base for outdoor adventures and explorations. Master the art of pond dipping, tracking, plant identification, geology, and more! Decipher nature’s clues and learn to speak the language of our native plants and wildlife. Most of all, get ready for a week of fun!

Summer at ACES is the perfect time to hike! This week we'll learn the fundamentals of hiking as we learn about the magical wilderness of Hallam Lake and beyond. We'll set out on mini hikes to explore places nearby. Learn to pack the essentials into a backpack that’s light enough to carry on all of your hiking adventures. It’s never too early to become a superstar hiker!

Calling all nature detectives! Our world would be one big garbage patch if it weren't for nature's F.B.I. These key players that sustain all life on the planet are known as Fungus, Bacteria, and Invertebrates. You will investigate the dirty, but crucial, job of nature's F.B.I. by turning over rotting logs, churning up the compost pile, and using a microscope to unveil the millions of bacteria and other microorganisms that exist in just one cup of soil. You'll never look at your food the same once you figure out how dirt made your lunch.
