Grades 3-4 Camp at Hallam Lake

Dive into the hidden wonders of our wetlands. From tiny macroinvertebrates to muskrats, each day will be dripping with new discoveries. This camp is perfect for those of you who like to get a little muddy and experience science through hands-on activities, stories, and games.

*No Camp on Friday in observance of Juneteenth holiday.

*This camp is taught in collaboration with the Red Brick Center for the Arts (RBCA). Each day, campers will head out on a hike and explore hands-on activities aligned with the camp's theme, then engage in creative art projects that build on and connect to the concepts introduced throughout the day at the Red Brick or outside. These collaboration camps are perfect for children that love spending time in nature and making art!

Come stretch your legs AND artistic muscles during a week of nature-themed art projects and exploration of local hiking trails and Aspen’s incredible landscape. Campers will learn essential outdoor skills like reading maps, navigating trails, and preparing for time outside with confidence, and work with different materials and techniques to create works of art based on their own observations. We’ll practice Leave No Trace ethics, pack smart, and discover how teamwork, creativity, and a positive attitude fuel every great adventure. With plenty of water, good hiking shoes, and a spirit of creativity and exploration, campers will be fully prepared to become capable, confident trailblazers—on the trail and in the studio. It’s time to get hiking and let your creativity guide you!

Orienteering, Adventure Preparation, and Trail Blazing!

Get ready to blaze new trails and build real-world adventure skills with ACES this summer! Dive into the essentials of outdoor preparation, learning how to read maps, navigate trails, and explore Aspen’s incredible landscape with confidence. We'll practice Leave No Trace ethics, pack smart, and discover how teamwork and a positive attitude fuel every great adventure. With plenty of water, good hiking shoes, and a spirit of exploration, campers will be fully prepared to become capable, confident trailblazers.

You will take special trips to the wild places around Aspen, learn about the local plants and wildlife, and then go on an overnight camping experience planned by YOU! This expedition includes a field trip to ACES at Toklat. 

Schedule for the week:

Monday - Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Hallam Lake.

Thursday: Meet at the trailhead at 10 a.m. ready for the overnight.

Friday: Pickup at trailhead at 12 p.m.

This week, we will explore our Hallam Lake environments to inspire our own natural structures and spaces. Campers will split time between Hallam Lake and the Red Brick Studios.
